What are Growth Factors?

Injections using a patient’s own growth factors may be used to promote hair growth in areas that are thinning or showing less hair density. Growth Factors is injected into the scalp stimulating the hair follicles to produce a more dense and more youthful appearance.

Why Consider Injections Using Growth Factors?

Growth Factors is a fantastic treatment for patients who are frustrating with the loss of fullness and density in their hair but are not candidates for a full hair transplant surgery. For patients suffering androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness) and are starting to shed hair, Growth Factors are the first-line treatment to stop this process. Growth Factors treatments are typically a no downtown procedure that allows patients to gain some visible density in their hair without undergoing a bigger procedure. Growth Factor uses your own blood and concentrates the platelet portion which contains many growth factors and cytokines that can stimulate the activity of hair follicles to produce new growth.

Dr. Lozada is incredible. Detail-oriented, reasonable, and educational throughout the whole process. There’s no other option in my book. Has a great taste in Flamenco guitar music as well.

Growth Factors FAQs

What are the Growth Factor injections like?

Growth Factor injections are done in the office and take approximately 30min-60 minutes to complete. First, blood is drawn from the patient and then processed into Growth Factor which concentrates the growth factors and signaling messengers in the sample. This is then injected within the hair follicles with small syringes and needles. Once the treatment is complete the patient is allowed to go home and encouraged to wash their hair that evening.

How many treatments are recommended for best results?

It is recommended to have 3-4 treatments for maximum benefit. Typically the treatments occur every 1-2 months and maximum results are judged 4 months. After the first set of treatments are completed, additional upkeep treatments every 6 months are recommended to maintain results.
