Why Choose Primary Rhinoplasty Procedure?

Some of our patients have been unhappy with their facial appearance or their nose for years, while others may have suffered nasal trauma in the past. Perhaps you have had a prior nose surgery and are not completely satisfied with the results, or you require a rhinoplasty for a deviated septum.

In some cases, additional surgery may be necessary to address these concerns, and rhinoplasty is a fantastic option for such problems. Although we do offer non-surgical options, nothing equals the changes that can be achieved with nasal surgery. For example, studies have shown that changes in nasal appearance can significantly boost patients’ self-confidence. Nose job, particularly when performed by a rhinoplasty specialist, can be a life-changing choice for the right candidates!

Rhinoplasty can improve both the form and function of the nose.

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty (or a “nose job”) is surgery for people who are dissatisfied with the appearance of their nose. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Lozada has the skills and experience necessary to achieve optimal results. The nose, a central structure that sits between the upper and lower parts of the face, should create facial harmony and not draw attention away from your other attractive features. Nasal surgery, as a common facial plastic surgery procedure, can enhance both the aesthetics and function of your nose.

A nose that is not balanced with the face pulls attention away from the person’s other attractive features. Rhinoplasty can improve both the form and function of the nose. Common reasons for rhinoplasty include:

  • Removing a bump
  • Refining a bulbous tip
  • Changing the size of the nose
  • Improving breathing
  • Straightening a crooked nose
  • Narrowing wide nostrils

Who is a good candidate for Rhinoplasty ?

Good candidates for a nose surgery are healthy, non-smokers who have specific concerns about their appearance or breathing. Common goals include reducing a bump, refining the tip, narrowing the nose, and changing the size of the overall nose.

Those with realistic surgical goals are ideal for this procedure. If you have had previous nose job and are dissatisfied with the results, then you may also be a good candidate for revision surgery.

The Cost Of Rhinoplasty In Philadelphia

The cost of rhinoplasty in Philadelphia can vary quite a bit depending on your specific case. Every nose is different, so the final price is based on the details of your procedure and the level of expertise required.

In general, the details of rhinoplasty in Philadelphia will vary based on your unique needs and the specifics of your procedure.

What affects the cost:

  • The surgeon’s experience and training
  • The complexity of the procedure
  • Whether it is a first-time or revision rhinoplasty
  • Anesthesia fees
  • Surgical facility costs

For example, a more complex case or revision surgery usually takes more time and planning, which can increase the overall cost.

What is included in the price:

  • Surgeon’s fee

  • Post-operative follow-up care

During your consultation, you’ll receive a personalized quote based on your goals and what is needed to achieve the best result.

Are Rhinoplasties Covered By Insurance?

Most rhinoplasty procedures are considered cosmetic, which means they are not typically covered by insurance.

However, there are exceptions.

  • If you have trouble breathing due to a structural issue like a deviated septum
  • If part of the surgery is medically necessary

In these cases, insurance may cover the functional portion of the procedure, such as septoplasty, while the cosmetic portion would still be an out-of-pocket cost.

The best way to know what’s covered is to speak directly with your insurance provider and discuss your options during your consultation.

TESTIMONIALS

Dr. Lozada changed my life!! I can finally actually breathe through my nose! It may seem strange for some but I can’t remember what it felt like to breathe through my nose until Kirk helped me. I battled breathing problems after some trauma incidents and could literally not breathe whilst rinsing mouth with listerine or even while washing face in shower. I had to mouth breathe 24/7. I first went to one of the most popular ENT clinics in Lebanon, PA (they won “Most Popular ENT In Central PA”) for a solution, and underwent a very expensive medical procedure performed by doctors who have been in…

The Rhinoplasty Plastic Surgery Procedure

Rhinoplasty is typically performed while the patient is under general anesthesia and oftentimes is conducted as an outpatient procedure. Lozada has extensive training in multiple different rhinoplasty techniques and tailors his approach to each patient’s case. He specializes in both endonasal “scarless” as well as open rhinoplasty.

The bone can be shaped with special tools and the cartilage may be removed, re-shaped, or augmented. Specific cases may require additional cartilage from either the septum or ear.

What is Scarless Rhinoplasty?

Scarless rhinoplasty changes the appearance and function of the nose with incisions placed entirely within the nose that leave no external scar. During the procedure, the cartilage and bony structures of the nose are accessed via specialized incisions. At the conclusion of the procedure, a splint is placed on the nose and left in place for approximately 4 or 5 days. Dr. Lozada does not routinely place packing inside the nose after scarless rhinoplasty surgery.

Recovering from Rhinoplasty Surgery

The recovery time from rhinoplasty is highly variable and depends on the type of procedure performed. The healing time for Rhinoplasty also differs. For example, recovering from bulbous nose rhinoplasty may take longer than from other types of rhinoplasty. Swelling and bruising are expected, although these will mainly subside within 2 weeks. You may experience some discomfort after the procedure, but strong pain medication is not usually required.

  • Week 1: This is when swelling and bruising are at their highest. You’ll have a splint on your nose, which is usually removed after 4 to 5 days. You might feel some discomfort, but it’s usually manageable. Take it easy and give your body time to heal.
  • Week 2: Most people feel ready to go back to work or school. Bruising starts to fade and can often be covered with makeup. You can do normal daily activities, but still avoid workouts or heavy lifting.
  • Weeks 3 to 4: Swelling keeps going down, and your nose starts to look more natural. If you had something like a bulbous tip rhinoplasty, it may take a little longer for swelling to fully settle.
  • 3 to 12 months: Your nose continues to heal slowly over time. Final results can take up to a year, but you’ll see steady improvement along the way. Any small scars usually fade and become hard to notice.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rhinoplasty

What is “scarless” Endonasal Rhinoplasty?

Endonasal or “closed rhinoplasty” is an advanced technique in which all the incisions are inside the nose, so that no external scarring is visible after surgery. These incisions give access to the bone and cartilage structures of the nose and allow your surgeon to achieve the desired result. Typically, you will have a better post-op experience with less bruising, swelling, or pain, allowing you to get back to daily life more quickly. Not everyone is a candidate for endonasal rhinoplasty, and Dr. Lozada will discuss this with you during your consultation.

What is Open Rhinoplasty?

In open rhinoplasty, a small incision is made at the base of the nose to allow direct access to the bone and cartilage. The incision is made in an area that is not noticeable. The scar heals beautifully and becomes invisible a few months after surgery. Open rhinoplasty is well suited for those who need a large amount of nasal tip work, extensive structural grafting, or revision rhinoplasty.

What Grafting Material Do You Use?

Cartilage grafts are commonly applied during rhinoplasty to achieve natural results. Grafting is not always required, and Dr. Lozada will discuss whether you will need grafts. Cartilage is most commonly harvested from the septum during septoplasty, and it can be carved into many different types of grafts.
In some cases, cartilage is taken from an ear or rib. These are specialized situations, which will be discussed with you during your consultation with Dr. Lozada. Grafts are designed not to be seen or felt after surgery and are used to help achieve the desired result.

What Factors May Affect My Outcome After Rhinoplasty?

Multiple factors affect the results of rhinoplasty. Skin thickness, scars, prior surgery, age, smoking, and your medical history are all important and play a critical role. The most important thing is to be aware of the factors relevant for each person.

What is the Minimum Age for Rhinoplasty?

Dr. Lozada performs rhinoplasty on the appropriate teenage clients. Typically, we advise that the child has finished their growth spurt, which is usually between 15 and 17 years of age.
